Funeral Service Update:effective May 4, 2020
Baucom's remains committed and prepared to safely care for the families we serve during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Whenever possible, Baucom's, will continue to enable families to participate in the customs and rituals that are most important to them.
Baucom's regularly receives information updates from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), Missouri Funeral Directors Association (MFDA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies about the evolution of COVID-19 in the United States.
According to the CDC, at this time, there are no known risks associated with being in the same room during a funeral or visitation service with the remains of someone who has died from a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. Depending on a family’s preferences, their loved one can be safely embalmed. Families may choose either burial or cremation as a service option.
At Baucom's we recognize that it is our responsibility to protect the health of those we are privileged to serve and will continue to guide families, as we always have, in ways they will meaningfully and safely commemorate the life of their loved one, at the same time adhering to the guidance issued by federal, state and local public health officials. We will continue to follow guidelines of social distancing, ensuring that guests who enter our facilities are wearing face masks, gloves, and utilizing hand sanitizers, and ensuring our facilities are occupied with no more than 50 persons
We recognize the importance of visitation, funeral and memorial services and have options available to help facilitate those needs.
Our staff remains vigilant about the cleanliness of our facilities and strictly adhere to all recommended healthy habits, such as making sure employees remain at home when sick, appropriately washing our hands, covering our mouths and nose during coughs and sneezes, and the use of sanitizers. The CDC and our local public health officials have offered a great deal of guidance for businesses such as ours on this topic, and we will continue to vigorously follow their advice, counsel and lead.
