Timothy S. ("Captain Hook") Jones, Sr.

TIMOTHY STAVFS JONES, SR. (Captain Hook) was born July 23, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He was reared by his grandmother and later his aunt and uncle who were his adoptive parents (Lucille Thornton-Hayes and Tommy Hayes). Timothy was preceded in death by his biological mother, Lafayette Jones, adoptive parents and grandmother. 

Timothy received his formal education in the St. Louis Public Schools system where he met his lifelong best friend of more than 60 years, Kenneth Jones. He obtained his high school diploma from Vashon High school then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree from Langston University- Oklahoma and a Master's degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. 

Timothy was also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated for 54 years, initiated at the Alpha Pi Chapter- Langston University "Phi Nu Pi!" 

Timothy was very passionate about his work over the span of his career as an educator and social worker. Through those efforts, he prided himself on being able to live, work, and give back to the communities that reminded him of where he came from as a youth. 

Timothy was also an accomplished baseball player and earned numerous accolades and awards for his outstanding abilities in the Khoury League and Tandy League Baseball Circuits. In 1997, Timothy was inducted into the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall Of Fame. It was through sports and education that Timothy made lifelong friends who have remained as close as brothers to him Qohn Lee Mays, Fast John, Sweet Lou, Lee Riggins, Cecil Brooks, Earnest Todd, Big Reggie, Reynal Caldwell, Thomas Bell and others). 

Timothy leaves to cherish his precious memory, 2 children: Michelle Shavonne Jones and Timothy Staves Jones, Jr.; 5 grandchildren: Lauren Echols-Jones, Timothy Jones III, Timberlyn Jones, Kaylyn McCoy-Jones and Lyndi Jones; 2 great-grandchildren: Italie Jones- Lamy and Isabella 'Raye Isom and 3 siblings: Francis Perry (Hall), Clara Jones and Roosevelt Jones Jr. 

Timothy also leaves a host of relatives, friends and loved ones who will surely miss his kind spirit, helping nature and unyielding zest for life. Timothy's closest friends have often referred to him as a "Warrior" for the manner in which he consistently overcame the challenges of his life. And what an amazing life it has been.
