Pastor Barton Raymond Jones was born April 6, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the only child of Raymond Beul Jones and Agnes Maxie.
On Saturday July 24, 2021, after a long fight with Sarcoidosis, God decided to take His soldier home. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Beul Jones, his mother, Agnes Maxie and his brother, William "Billy" Reese.
Barton attended St. Louis Public School and graduated from University City High School where he met the love of his life Valerie Thornton. The two married April 6, 1976 and to their union four beautiful children were born: Manika, William, Raymond, and Adia.
Barton worked at Union Electric (Ameren) for 37 years. At Ameren, Barton was a Journeyman Lineman and an Overhead Repairman.
Barton confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1983.
All of his family and friends were dearly loved and cherished by him. Barton's biggest passion was his grandchildren. Barton also went by "Papa" or "Barty". Barton was known as the jokester full of attitude. He always had corny jokes or something sarcastic to say. Barton loved old country music and old western movies. You always saw Barton with a box of cookies or a large bag of M & M's.
