Ms. Talena Thomas

Ms. Talena Thomas' home coming was suddenly  met on Thursday, July 8, 2021, after a brief stay at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, for an acute medical health failure. She will be greatly missed. We loved her so very much. 

Talena was born July 21, 1969 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Mr. Charles Thomas, Sr., and Mrs. Lena Mae (McGregory) Thomas of Marks, Mississippi who still reside in St. Louis, Missouri.

Talena's parents were excited to know that they were going to be blessed with a daughter and they married and showered her with love throughout her life. 

Talena was the second born child and the only daughter. She had a deep connection to her only brother, Mr. Charles Thomas, Jr., of St. Louis, who was born in 1966 (3 yrs. older). 

Talena was a very kind person, who carried a friendly and gentle soul. She loved life, her family, her freedom and God. 

Talena lived her entire life in St. Louis. She gave her life to Christ at the very early age of nine. She attended New Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earnest Brown where she was baptized. 

Talena was under the direct guidance of her mother, Lena Thomas, and her grandmother, the late Luberta (Leatherberry-McGregory) Anderson who was the  matriarch of the McGregory family that unites the Thomas family. 

Talena was educated in the St. Louis Public School System, where she was enrolled in and attended west St. Louis area schools: Hamilton Branch Elementary, Hamilton Elementary, Hempstead Elementary, Cook Branch Elementary, Cook Elementary School and Vashon High School (Bell Location). 

Talena worked for The State of Missouri under the SLATE Summer Job Program. She also worked as a Cook in the St. Louis area until she found her passion in being a stay at home mom. 

Talena never chose to get married. She did however enjoy the many blessings of becoming a mother and later a grandmother. Talena was the proud mother of three children and four grandchildren: Mr. Steve Lamont Thomas of St. Louis, her first born son; Mr. Stanley Von-Eric Thomas, her second born son; and Mr. Don'tre Cash-Thomas, her third born son. Talena was proud of her grandchildren: Sonya Thomas 8, Jaden Thomas 5, Brayson Thomas 3, and Josiah Thomas 3. 

Talena leaves to cherish her very precious memory, her always supportive and devoted mother, Mrs. Lena M. Thomas; sons, Steve L Thomas, Stanley V. Thomas, and Don'tre Cash-Thomas; brother, Charles Thomas Jr. and wife/sister-in-law, Sophornia Jossett (Williams) Thomas; grandchildren, Sonya Thomas, J aden Thomas, Brayson Thomas, and Josiah Thomas; nephew, Charles Thomas, III; nieces, Asia J. Thomas and J ohnneshia Conner; aunts, Alberta Townsend and Clara Louise Hayes; uncle, James Henry McGregory; and a host of cousins, in-laws, friends and extended family.
