Robin Diane Stepney was born on August 10, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the only daughter born to Robert and Ernestine (Hearon) Stepney. Both of her parents preceded her in death.
Robin accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her grandfather, the late Pastor Shedrick Hearon, Sr. She was a member of the choir, singing many solos and she remained a faithful member until she could no longer attend.
In 1984, she was briefly married to Bill Minley. No children were born from this union.
After experiencing apartment life for many years, she proudly purchased her first home.
She was affectionately known as “Cookie” by her family and friends. This nickname was given to her by her grandfather Rev. Shedrick Hearon, Sr.
Robin was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools and attended Northwest High School where she graduated in 1978. After high school, she attended Southern Illinois University -Edwardsville, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. She then began her career in radio. Utilizing her extremely outgoing personality, she transitioned into personal banking, working for several local banks. She won numerous incentive vacations for being the top salesperson. She had a way with people, and her success could be attributed to her charm, charisma, and willingness to help others. She enjoyed meeting new people and helping them solve their financial problems. She was highly sought after for her expertise and personal touch with customers. She made numerous work friends wherever she worked.
Robin had several hobbies which included singing and performing. During high school, l she performed in a local band called the Sounds of St. Louis. She had a passion for singing but also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, traveling, playing cards, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Everyone who knew Robin knew how much she loved being “Aunt Cookie” to her nieces and nephews. She played a crucial part in their upbringing, and there was nothing she would not do for them. Aunt Cookie's house was the place to be spoiled, fed, and entertained!
Robin leaves to cherish her precious memories: brothers, Gerald, David (Donna), and Eric (Kim); aunts, Marie Brown and Flesia Norment; uncle, Shedrick Hearon, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition, her special lifetime friends, Laney Braxton, Relda Brooks, Vikki Collier, and Linda Turner will cherish their bond and adventures together.
