Ms. Paula Jenkins Obituary

Paula Lynn Jenkins “PJ” was born September 14, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the union of  William Bryant Jenkins, Jr., and Wilma Sue Jenkins. She was the eldest child born to this union.  Her mother, Wilma Sue Jenkins; sister, Leslie Nicole Jenkins; and niece, DeCora Nicole Jenkins, preceded her in death.

Paula attended Jennings Public Schools and continued her educa-tion at Fontbonne University, where she graduated with a Bache-lor of Science Degree in Accounting. She was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 20 years, where she met many friends and formed life-time bonds with many of her co-workers.

Paula loved herself some Jesus and confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She attended the Church of Christ the Divine under the leadership of the late Bishop Arthur C. Coleman, where she was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. In 1994, Paula moved her membership to Faith Miracle Temple Church of God Apostolic under the leadership of Bishop Larry J. Baylor. She served as an usher, a greeter on the hospitality committee, and a choir member.

Paula was a jokester and was known for giving everyone in the family a nickname. She was also “The Selfie Queen!” Her greatest passion was cooking and baking for her family and co-workers, just to make them happy and see them smile. It brought joy to her heart. Paula possessed many talents from babysitting, narrating children’s movies, braiding hair, singing, and just being a listening ear. She was gentle and kind, always positive, thoughtful, goofy, and had a sweet spirit.

Paula would like to let all of you know that her work here is done. On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, she received an offer she couldn’t refuse!  This assignment came with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends, who she hadn’t seen in a long time, and guar-anteed job security. Her new mission took her to a wonderful place where she is socializing, reading, cooking, singing, and dancing to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love are endless. Don’t worry, although her journey on earth came with its challenges and setbacks, rest assured she arrived at her current destination in ex-cellent shape and cancer free! She left detailed instructions for us to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. We who remain, who knew and loved Paula, will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, and her love for life, family, and friends.  She worked very hard all her life and made a difference in the lives of many. Now it’s her time to rest and relax.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her father, William B. Jenkins Jr. (Deborah); two sisters, Tracey M. Jenkins and Erika D. Rowsey; two nieces, Shanicia M. Rogers (Corry) and Ta’Korie D. Willis; one nephew, Destin D. Jenkins; two uncles, William Neal Easley and Ross Mitchell (Mayella); and a host of cousins, saints, and friends.
