Reflections of Kimberly's Gift
Kimberly Christina Knight was born December 10, 1990, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Eugene Knight, Jr., and Tina Hinton. Kimberly was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Knight, Jr.; her maternal grandfather, Jimmie Hinton; her paternal grandparents, Eugene Knight, Sr. & Doris Knight; her aunt, Diana Knight; and her uncle, Marvin Knight.
In 1993, after relocating to East St. Louis, Illinois with her mother & younger sister Yasmyn, the family eventually settled in Edwardsville, Illinois, in 1995. Kimberly attended the Edwardsville Public School District 7 from first grade, until she graduated high school in 2011. Since the age of years old, Kimberly was a member of the True Gospel Miracle Church of God under the leadership and tutelage of the late, great, Dr. B.L. Gregory.
Even though Kimberly received a diagnosis of Juvenile Huntington’s Disease (JHD) at the tender age of eleven years old, the diagnosis and the adverse effects of JHD never diminished her spunkiness, magnetic personality, and love for life. Those who knew her were very familiar with her “side eye” glances, her sassiness, her strength, her determination, and her love for family.
Kimberly transitioned, with her family by her side, on May 15, 2022. Her loving spirit and countless fond memories are cherished by: her mother, Tina Hinton; sister, Yasmyn Knight; maternal grandmother, Michale Hinton; uncle, Timothy Knight; aunts, Christina (Leonard) Hampton, Kimberly Harvey, Cassandra Jordan, Lisa Knight, and Ophelia Knight; maternal great-grandfather, Anderson Green, Sr.; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends.
