FLAVELLA SIMMS was born October 7, 1929 in Shaw, Mississippi, the third child of seven children to Charlie and Jessie Brooks. Her mother, father, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
She confessed a hope in Christ at a young age in Shaw, Mississippi. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1944. She became a member of Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Doss McGee and Reverend Robert Reed, where she was a member for 55 years. She served as Choir President and on the Mother's Board for many years.
She was a loving, kind and caring Mother (Cookie), Grandmother (Granny), Sister and Aunt (Aunt Faye). She gave her all to everyone. It didn't matter who it was, everyone was God's children and she would make them feel special.
She would always say "I may give out, but I'll never give up". On May 9, 2020, she finally gave out. Her loving spirit will live on in all our lives, forever.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter Benella Ford Green; son-in-law, Gino Green Sr.; grandson, Gino Green Jr.; sister, Celestine Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
