Ms. Concepcion Wright Obituary

Life's Reflections

Concepcion "Conchi" Wright was catholic born to parents Sebastiana Chivato [mother] and Pedro Garrido [father] in Madrid, Spain on July 17th, 1950. She was the youngest of three children, a loving sister to two older brothers Pedro Garrido-Chivato and the late Mariano Garrido-Chivato. Conchi always spoke fondly of her childhood memories in Madrid, spending much of her days in the company of her beloved mother learning traditional recipes and tending to the home while her beloved father worked diligently providing for the family. At the spirited age of 22, Conchi welcomed her first born child, David, to the world, and so began her journey into motherhood.

A short time later, Conchi's life path would lead her to meet and marry a US airman, Eugene Apples, and welcome another son, Peter William Apples, to the family. Like many things in life that come to pass, their marital union would eventually dissolve propelling a young Conchi into a new phase of life as a single mother, in a foreign country she knew little of and two boys to raise. While living in California Concepcion met Joseph Benjamin Wright, a personable, charming airman stationed at Travis AFB, and the two married in 1983. This union would bring about the births of their two daughters, April Lynette Wright followed by Candace Opal Wright a few years later, completing the family. After military stationed moves from California to Spain, and from Spain to Illinois, the family eventually settled in St. Louis where they remain today.

Conchi's vibrant, energetic personality naturally led her to customer service and high-end retail fields of employment where she thrived, as the confident fashionista she was a heart. She loved to dress to impress! Concepcion was a person that no matter where she went, she would inevitably run into a friend a or two and if not, she would certainly make a new one by the time she was on her way out. Concepcion was one-of-a-kind and truly had a way of touching the lives of those she befriended that neither time nor distance could ever diminish. She will forever be remembered for her fun hearted nature, expressive wardrobe, her sassy outspokenness, unforgettable Spanish accent, her love of the night life at her favorite step clubs where she was always greeted by what felt like the whole room, and above all else, her love of life, family, and her many amazing, cherished friendships. As a strong woman of faith, Conchi always trusted in the Lord to help her through troubled times, but the vessel carrying her earthly soul could no longer harness the needed strength to overcome her relentless battle with cancer, having rung one bell already in 2018. She departed this life on a beautiful spring morning, tucked in her bed, surrounded by her loving children, her husband, friend, and gracious caretaker Joe, and a dearly loved long time friend to bring her comfort as she transitioned. Concepcion will be missed beyond measure by all who knew her presence in this life and will never be forgotten. WE LOVE YOU CONCHI!
