Shirley May Washington was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 2, 1942. She was the middle child of three born to the union of Katherine Howlett and Frank R. Washington.
Shirley accepted Christ into her life at an early age and stayed faithful until her passing. On April 6, 1974, Shirley married Wilbur T. Oliver. The two enjoyed many years of holy matrimony and renewed their vows in 1995.
Shirley had a long tenure at Bussman Fuses. It was there where she met coworkers who became life-long friends, along with their family's. She was passionate about healthcare and early childhood education and had an impressive career with several organizations, including St. Engelbert's Catholic Church and Kidz Learning Center. This also showed in the care she provided for her grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a dynamic and creative spirit. As the matriarch of her family, she passed down many of her loves, including, cooking, music, decor, fashion, board/card games, and so much more. Shirley was the epitome of strength, a shoulder to cry to on, and an ever-listening ear. She was truly generous with her time, love, and light. Shirley was liked by many and loved by all!
