Sherry LeAndrea Davis, daughter of Gwendolyn Perkins Davis and Willie Davis, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on January 18, 1962. Sherry was a loving and protective big sister to her brother, Troy LeNair Davis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny.
At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at Christ Southern Mission Baptist Church. Since birth, she had a contagious smile that lit up every room she entered; she was a people person and knew no strangers.
Sherry was a wonderful mom, giving birth to her first child, Sacoyya Davis, in 1978. She was united in Holy matrimony to James Leroy Dixon on May 4, 1991; to this union, two children were born, Sierra Nicole Dixon and James Sean Dixon. Unconditional love, support, and guidance are just some of the qualities Sherry consistently exemplified with family and friends.
Sherry graduated from Normandy High school and that’s where she met two lifelong friends (sisters) Lavetta Thomas Stevenson and Terry Copeland Duncan. The bond she shared with these ladies was golden and unbreakable. She was a natural leader, great communicator, and planner. To build upon her skills and further her education, she attended the University of Missouri, St. Louis and Maryville University. She proudly and diligently spent most of her career in project management related work. Most recently, she worked as an IT Project Manager for the United States Dept of Agriculture (USDA), which she considered to be part of her extended family. She was committed to her career and committed to USDA’s mission to feed the world.
Sherry was a FASHIONISTA! She loved to shop and was passionate about fashion and home décor. Her attention to detail and awareness of the latest and greatest styles made her a true trendsetter. Sherry will ALWAYS be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. She was immensely proud of her family, especially her five grandsons. Her legacy will continue to live on within each of us!
Sherry leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of almost 31 years, James; mother, Gwendolyn; father, Willie; two daughters, Sacoyya (Ed) and Sierra (Derek); one son, Sean; one sister, Selena; one brother, Troy; grandsons, BJ, Brison, DJ, Blake, and Dayton; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
