Mrs. Mildred Joanne Martin

MILDRED JOANNE BOYD was born on September 12, 1948 in Florence, Alabama. She was the first born of five children. Two of her brothers, Robert Boyd and Calvin Boyd, preceded her in death. She attended public school and was a member of Tennessee Valley Community Church in Florence, Alabama. 

In 1957, the family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Mildred was educated in the St. Louis public school district. She became a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in St. Louis in 1965. 

Mildred married in 1966 and from this union, one child was born, Dorothy Jean Campbell. She was employed by both Ranken Jordan Pediatric Hospital and Mount Providence School-Sisters of Divine Providence for many years. 

Mildred met the love of her life, Robert Lee Martin, in 1983 and married him in 1997; they were happily married until Robert's death in 2017. 

She enjoyed movies ( especially Christmas movies), traveling, Motown music, cooking shows, fashion, puzzles, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends. Mildred's caring heart touched the lives of those who crossed her path and she never met a stranger. Her laugh was truly infectious, and she had a bright beautiful smile. She was a doting mother and loved her family and friends immensely. 

God called Mildred home on March 3, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Dorothy Jean Campbell (Doug); mother, Mattie Pruitt; one sister, Vickie Boyd; one brother, Abram Larry Pruitt, Jr. (Spark!); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
