Mrs. Johnnie Turley Obituary

The Life Reflections

Johnnie Mae Turley was born March 22nd, 1937, in Saint Louis, MO, to the loving union of Wesley and Susie Poston. She was the fourth child of seven born to the Poston’s.

Johnnie Mae is preceded in death by her; Husband William Turley Sr., son William Turley Jr. “Poo”, and eldest grandson Myron Jones Jr., as well as her parents Wesley and Susie Poston.

She’s also preceded in death by her four sisters: Mary Hunter, Eliza Lott, Clara Sanders ( Norman Sanders Sr.), and Susie Ann Carpenter; and two brothers: Willie Poston “Mane” and John Poston “Brother”.

Johnnie Mae was a God-fearing woman, and accepted Jesus Christ. She received her education from the Saint Louis Public School System. She was a proud graduate of Vashon High School, Class of 1955. Johnnie Mae was an avid cake baker and was known for her famous dressing recipe.

Her years of employment began after maintaining the most important role - a stay at home housewife, until her children started early education. She held positions at Daust Manufacturing, National Rental Car, and her last and most impactful position, Normandy School District ( Middle and High school). She captured the heart of many children as a beloved Lunch-lady, ensuring many children ate regardless of their financial circumstances. And for that she was adored by all.

On Friday, March 29th, 2024, surrounded by love, the Lord called Johnnie Mae home. She leaves to cherish her memories, her four daughters; Carla Turley, Brenda Turley - Woods (Calvin Woods Sr), Shellie Turley, and Rita Morris (Robert Morris); her grandchildren: Destiny, Calvin Jr. “Jay”, Wayne, Taylor, Jabriel, Jabreea, and Caleb; and her great - grandchildren; Ryan, Rayce “Trayce”, Calvin III, Jevon, Cayden, Alaiya, Cai’onna, and Adonis; a host of honorary sons and daughters acquired throughout the years, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
