GERTRUDE WRIGHT was born on December 9, 1937, in Coffeeville, Mississippi. Born from the union of Jack and Rosie McFarland, Gertrude was the sixth of eight children.
She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1949, where she attended and graduated from Hadley Technical High School.
She was baptized at an early age, and her Christian faith grew as a member of St.John A.M.E Church.
Gertrude met and married Oscar Wright at an early age, and together, they raised four children.
Early in her professional career, Gertrude worked at Barnes Hospital as a Tech in the Central Service department. She was later employed at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) as a sheet metal SMAR for over 30 years, where she retired.
On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, Gertrude Wright departed this life to be with the Lord.
She is preceded in death by parents, Jack and Rosie McFarland; brother, George McFarland; and sisters, Gladys Reams and Maxine Smith.
She leaves her cherished memory to her husband, Oscar Wright; children, Alvin Wright (Cornelia), Jennifer Austin, Kenneth Wright, and Tracy Prince; brother,John McFarland; and sisters, Katherine Chamberlain, Leona Parker, and Alice Hayden. She also leaves her cherished memory to 15 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
