Mrs. Elizabeth Channel Obituary

Our beloved Elizabeth (Betty) Channel was born in Marion, Arkansas, on March 1, 1949, to the late Charlie Rufus and Mary Louise Clark. She was raised with her family in Lehi Baptist Church, where she confessed hope in Christ at an early age. Later, in 1960, the family started attending 14th Street Church of Christ.

Elizabeth attended Wedlock Elementary School in Edmondson, Arkansas, and graduated from Wonder High School in West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1968. Elizabeth moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1968, where she later married George Channel in 1976. To their union two children were born, and she gained four beautiful children. Their blended family of six was reared seamlessly in love. She was employed by Sears for several years until she became a homemaker. She was a member of New Generational Christian Church, under the ministry of Pastor Dexter J. Belue, her son-in-law.

Elizabeth loved fishing, cooking delicious meals, decorating, and working in her yard, especially during the holidays. She loved to bargain shop with her niece, Tina, spending time with family and friends (Beacon family). She was always full of life and had a smile that would light up a dark room.

Elizabeth departed this life on Monday, May 17, 2021, at Barnes Jewish Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Channel; daughter, Shanta Channel-Culpepper; greatgranddaughter, N'Kira Channel; three brothers, Washington, Charlie, and David Clark; and one sister, Charlene Miller.

Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Christopher, and a bonus son, Terrance Channel; one son-in-law, Charles Culpepper; three bonus daughters, Denise (Dexter J) Belue, Deborah Mitchell, and Glynis (Freddie) Hicks; five sisters, Ella Clark, Patricia (Rodney) Garner, Johnnie (Calvin) Milton, Priscilla Clark, and Constance Clark; four brothers, Sherman Clark, Maurice Clark, Jerome Clark, and Andre (Bobbie) Clark; twenty grandchildren; and a host of beloved great-grandchildren, aunties, nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. She also leaves a best friend of 40-plus years, Eda (Candy) Vaulx.
