Mrs. Diane Triggs Obituary

Our beloved Diane was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 2, 1952, to the union of Lemmie and Lillie Mae Bailey. She was the fourth of seven children, and she loved each of her siblings incredibly. Her parents, brothers, Lemmie Bailey, Jr., and Donnie Bailey, and sister, Billie Ruth Jones, preceded her in death.

Diane could go on for days with stories of growing up as a kid on Ridge Avenue with her family. The countless memories they shared and neighborhood friendships they made were highlights of her childhood. Diane was a 1971 graduate of Soldan High School and furthered her education at Vanderschmidt Business School, Washington University, and St. Louis Community College. If you knew Diane, it was evident she was business savvy, a trait she got from her daddy.

Diane accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and made it a life mission to lead others to salvation. She joined True Light Missionary Baptist Church in 1978, where she met her late husband, Johnny Triggs, whom she married in 1981. The two went on to have two daughters, Jonnesse and Dynisha. Diane also developed special relationships with Johnny’s older children, whom she loved dearly.

At True Light, Diane sang in the church choir, leaving her signature on “Grace and Mercy,” “Silver and Gold,” and of course, “Golden Bells.” She was also a committed leader of Children’s Church and completed various evangelism and behavioral excellence trainings under the leadership of Reverend E. Stanley Howlett, and Howlett and Associates. Diane went on to follow the move of God and was planted at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she also sang in the choir over the years and thoroughly enjoyed attending the church’s Parking Lot Praise services brought about during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 1975 Diane began her career with Southwestern Bell (AT&T) and retired in 2008 after more than 30 years of service. Her love for organization and attention to detail made her role in administration and clerical work satisfying, not to mention she could type 70 words per minute, WITH ACCURACY. She would always say, “You don’t get paid to do the things you like to do; you’re paid to show up and do the things you don’t.” Upon retirement, Diane worked for a number of years at Deer Valley Home Health as support staff, through 2015.

Diane’s greatest love was for her girls, and anyone she crossed paths with knew their names, and probably also saw pictures and videos of her grandchildren. That is what life was about for Diane, family and legacy. There was safety in her eyes and direction in her voice, and comfort in her presence. She was exquisite and elegant in nature, honest, and nurturing. Whether she was cooking for you and praying for you, you always knew where she stood. Once she was in your corner, she was there to stay.

Diane was always clear about one thing: she wanted her homegoing services to be held at her home church, True Light.

Diane departed this life and answered God’s call on April 10, 2022, at 10:58 AM. She leaves to cherish her memory: her two daughters, Jonnesse and Dynisha; three grandchildren, Destiny, Caleb, and Ace; special loving bonus son, Scoota; three sisters, Lillie Ree Thigpen (Bensid), Doris Thornton, and Renae Bailey; nieces and nephews, Kevin and Sumari Thigpen, LaDonna Malone, Lisa Townsel (Andre), Brian Jones (Charron), Benjamin Jones (Vernisha), Asia Wright, Norman Boyd III (Tonya), Donald Bailey, Jr. (Tamm), Dominique Holmes (Greg), and Eriyon Bailey; and a host of special friends, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
