Mrs. Denna Sanders Obituary

Her Journey

Denna Ann Sanders, affectionately known as "Denna Girl" or "Ma," Denna was born to the late Moses and Ruby Woods on December 26, 1956, in St. Louis, MO. She was the third of six children.

Denna's educational journey began at St. Bridget's Catholic School and continued at St. Alphonsus (Rock) Catholic High School. Her passion for beauty led her to La Plante Beauty Hair Academy, where she graduated in 1988. Denna's career as a hairstylist started at Famous Barr/Northland hair salon, progressed to Express Cuts/Lindell, and later to The Hair Nook. Her talent and dedication to her craft were evident to all who had the pleasure of sitting in her chair.

Venturing into the beauty and cosmetic industry, Denna became a revered beauty and cosmetic consultant for Flori Roberts, under the mentorship of Nancy Wilson, at Famous Barr/Northland before transferring to Lord & Taylor/Galleria. Later, she enhanced the fragrance department at Nordstrom/West County with her expertise until her retirement in 2008.

Driven by a desire to give back, Denna took a part-time position at the Missouri Division of Youth Services (DYS) in 2009, transporting troubled youth. She found joy in working with the youth but eventually transitioned to the role of office manager at Guardian Angel In-Home Care Services until her departure in 2018.

Denna's children, friends, and colleagues fondly recall her as beautiful and classy, with a super sweet spirit that was adored by all. Her favorite pastimes included dancing and singing to old-school music, which reflected her vibrant and joyful personality. Denna also found solace and inspiration in her favorite Scripture, Romans 12:2, which speaks to transformation and the pursuit of God's will.

Her favorite foods, salad, and salmon were often on the menu during family gatherings where laughter and stories were shared. Denna's presence made every moment special, and her spirit of celebration will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Denna is also preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Sanders, Sr.

Denna is survived by her three beautiful and amazing children, Charles A. Sanders Jr. and his wife Marquita, Yalonda S. Amerson and her husband Termez, and Natalie N. Sanders; ten smart and amazing grandchildren - Charles A. Sanders III, Tamez Amerson, Rasheed Sanders, Makhyla Mingo, Destiny Sanders-Belcher, Tamad Amerson, Ayannah Amerson, Zaria Sanders, Zoie Sanders, and Tehran Hinkle; her only great-grandchild, Blessence Cage; siblings Debra & Kidane TGeworgies, Eartha Giles, Neville Woods, Kevin Woods, and Raquel Woods; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

As we remember Denna Ann Sanders, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart that deeply touched so many. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she cherished.
