Catherine R. Davis (Pullings) was born on April 4, 1949, to Mr. Edward Charles Drayton and Norma Lee Kennedy in St. Louis, MO. She was the oldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hershal Davis; grandson, Jamar Farmer, two great-grandchildren, Topanga Schneider and Mauri Cooper her sister, Barbara “Boots” Cook, brother, Robert Pullings, and sister, Jannette Bates. Catherine was also preceded in death by a special girlfriend, Ella Mae Runnels.
Catherine was educated in the Kirkwood School District. She was then employed by Kirkwood (R-7) School District for over 20 years before she retired. She accepted Jesus Christ and developed a relationship in her earlier years at New Covenant Full Gospel Church of Meacham Park. She later joined New Hope Baptist Church, where her husband was a member. She was a devoted and faithful member and absolutely loved her church family. Catherine enjoyed sharing the gospel with anyone who would listen.
Catherine was united in Holy Matrimony to Hershel Davis March 19, 1992. They enjoyed traveling and serving the Lord together. Catherine was a genuinely thoughtful, kind, and sweet person with a gentle spirit. Among other qualities, she was a person known for her integrity, honesty, and dependability. Catherine enjoyed shopping from home and loved spending time with her family. She made it her business to help anyone who needed a helping hand. Some of her favorite pastimes included watching Channel 2 and The Hallmark Channel, sitting on her front porch, and chatting with her friends on the phone. Catherine loved to eat ice cream, and it didn’t matter what time of day she had it. She once served as a member of the adult choir and was a volunteer usher. Catherine loved her Meacham Park Community and always looked forward to attending the Meacham Park Homecomings. Catherine was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend to many, many people.
Catherine leaves to cherish her legacy: her devoted children, Maurice Pullings, Lamarril McCullough, Kathy (Matt) Polk, Shelia Davis of Dickson, TN, Diane Givens, Melinda (Greg) Rocha of Wichita, KS, Hershel Davis, Jr., Phillip Davis of Atlanta, GA, Kent (Sharon) Davis, and Andre (Sha) Davis; her grandchildren, Maurice Pullings, Yolanda Pullings, and Mario Pullings; her great-grandchildren, Maurice Helm, Peyton Cooper, Cadence Benford, Jayden Stevenson, and Dallas Childs; her three sisters who will dearly miss her, Karen Drayton-Fowlkes (Ira Fowlkes), and Nadja Weeden, Clynese “Toni” Drayton; brother, David M. Drayton (Dimple Robinson-Drayton); and special son, Todd McCullough. Catherine will also be missed by three special friends, Janet Jones, Margaret Williams, and Lamarril Holmes.
