Mr. Sheldon Greer, Sr. Obituary

Sheldon Benard Greer was born May 26, 1966, in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was the second of three children born to James R. and Mary A. Greer.

Sheldon, also known as “Shell”, was educated in the St. Louis Public School District. He received his high school diploma at Southwest High School where he graduated in 1984.

Sheldon made the decision to enlist in the US Army. He went to Fort Jackson, North Carolina for training. He began AIT (Advanced Individual Training) in Fort Knox, Kentucky and moved on to Fort Stewart in Georgia, where he became titled as 63T10 BFVS Mechanic. His final military journey landed him in Baumholder, Germany where he was stationed for three years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Sheldon was employed with P M Resources Inc. until his health began to fail.

Shell” loved music. He loved to dance, play cards, and hang out with his family and longtime friends, or should we say, lifelong brothers. You could not keep him off the dance floor and his mother was his favorite dance partner at all of the family gatherings. They would dance the night away if they could. “Shell” loved enjoying his life that God allowed him to have. He was always the strong one. He never buckled during hard times. He was tough and never let anything bother him. If it did, we never knew it.

Sheldon met the love of his life, Denise Myer, in high school and later made her his wife. He loved and cherished her to the utmost. He would say sometimes, “I don’t know why she even put up with me.” Her love for him was so genuine and it showed throughout the years. Accompanying this union is his four boys, whom he loved dearly, was proud of, and talked about all of the time – Brian, Sheldon Jr. “BJ”, Jamon, and Martez. He was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters as well, Maya and Legacy.

On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 2:50 p.m., a little over three weeks before his birthday, Sheldon departed this life and entered into his new journey of eternal life. He is now comfortable and free from all pain and suffering. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Greer.
