ROBERT “BOBBY” CANYON WASHINGTON was born on September 19, 1953, to Robert Riggins and Willie Bea Washington in Saint Louis, Missouri, who both preceded him in death.
In his adolescence, Robert moved to Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Madison High School as a young, talented football player.
After graduation, Robert enlisted in the Marine Corps from 1972-76 where he served as a combination welder earning several medals and decorations.

He attended El Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Wilson.
