Born June 17, 1931, Reginald Foster, affectionately called Foster, was the only child of Geneva Rogers. Geneva left Saint Louis to seek her fortunes in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California.
Reginald was raised in the home of Geneva’s sister, Pearl Rogers-Smiley and her husband Sam, in Saint Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed a loving family life with his sibling cousins. In addition to Pearl and Sam Smiley, he was predeceased by his cousin siblings Sam, Jr., Dolores, Shirley, and Ronald.
He attended the St. Louis public school system, graduating from Sumner High School.
On November 1, 1949, Reginald (Life member #1269) crossed the burning sands and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Gamma Chapter. In 1952, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina.
Reginald served his country in the U.S. Army from November 12, 1952 and was honorably discharged October 12, 1954. During his tenure he received a Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
Reginald departed his earthly home on November 18, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy: his daughter Geneva Foster of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren Jerry and Anthony of Springfield, Missouri, and Devon Scott, a devoted grandson who lived with Reginald until his earthly departure; cousin sibling Sandra; 3 great-grandchildren, cousins, friends and the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
