Michael C. Whisenton, sometimes called Junior, Whiz, and “Big Daddy,” was born in St. Louis, MO, on April 9, 1948, to the late James Whisenton and Lucille (Randall) Whisenton.
At an early age, he professed a faith in Christ and became a member of Union Memorial United Methodist Church.
Michael was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in 1966. He joined the Army soon after and served his country in Korea and Vietnam. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked at General Motors.
Michael met his beloved wife, Lillian (Littleton) Whisenton, while visiting his relatives in Chicago, IL. They joined in holy matrimony on June 27, 1970, and to their union, two children were born.
In 1972, Michael joined the St. Louis County Police Department as a patrolman. He was later promoted to detective in the fugitive division in 1977. In 1979, he joined McDonald Douglas (Boeing) as a Security Officer until his retirement.
Michael was an avid sports lover and outdoorsman. He played with several baseball teams throughout the St. Louis area. His favorite sports teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, Mizzou, and the St. Louis Rams. He acquired his love of fishing and hunting from his father. Michael looked forward to organizing yearly fishing trips to Waukegan, IL, and Kenosha, WI. When he was physically able, he would never miss deer hunting in Atlanta, MO, on his good friend, Neil Travis’ land.
On Monday, April 11, 2022, Michael departed this life. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Big James Whisenton.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Lillian; two children, Michael Keith and Michele (Missy); one grandson, Cameron London; siblings, James (Naomi), Rudolph, Kenneth, Stanley, LaVern (Lonnie) Davidson, and Ethel (Richard) Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
