Mr. Jerome Fields, Jr. Obituary

Jerome Fields, Jr., was born October 7, 1952, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to the late Jerome Sr., and Josephine Fields. He received his education through the Saint Louis Public School System.

Jerome accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was an active member during his time at Rising Star, singing with the Rising Star Male Chorus and the Silver Stars Quartet.

Jerome had an outgoing personality, which contributed to the 34 years that he enjoyed as a driver for Bi-State. During these years, he developed very close friendships with many of his co-workers that lasted up until his death. He also met his wife (Sharon) through this avenue and lovingly shared the last 35 years of his life with her.

Jerome was very family-oriented. He loved his siblings and had a soft spot for the children in the family. Whether immediate or extended, Jerome never met a child he didn’t take up under his wing. He was a great father, grandpa, and uncle. He was a positive role model to the children and was very respected by the younger generation in the family. He was always offering sound advice to those who confided in him.

If you knew Jerome, you also knew he had a joking way of telling the truth. If you were sensitive, he may not have been the best person to ask certain things like, “How does my hair look?” or “Do you like this outfit?” There was a chance that you would not get the answer you were expecting. Sometimes, he would give his opinion without you asking for it. (smile)

Jerome enjoyed life to the fullest and relished his time here on Earth. He traveled the world experiencing many beautiful countries and cultures. He was a perfect skater and enjoyed teaching these skills to his children. He enjoyed softball and was able to play with the “St. Louis Stars”, a league formed with his Bi-State Team. Jerome experienced love, life and family, which he considered the best parts of his life. Jerome will truly be missed by all he met.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memories: the love of his life for 35 years, his lovely wife, Sharon Fields; his children, Lisa, Wanda, Latashia, and Charles; his siblings, Doretha White, Juanice Mays, Barbara Thirdkill (Edward), Mitchell Fields, Eric Fields, Dennis Fields (Sha), and Terrell Fields ( LaShonda); along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
