Mr. Henry B. Gray, Jr.

Henry B. Gray Jr. was born to Laverne and Henry Gray Sr. in Chicago, Illinois, on June 23, 1969. He was the only child of Laverne and Henry Sr. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. 

Henry was educated in Chicago. His elementary education was at St. Martin Catholic School where he graduated in the top ten. After graduating from St. Martin, he attended Whitney Young Magnet High School. There he was chosen to participate in the BLACK ENGINEERING PROGRAM, and as a result, he worked with IDOT during the summer of his junior and senior years.  He graduated from Whitney Young Magnet High with honors. In 1987, he attended Purdue University and majored in engineering. After graduating from Purdue, he continued to work for IDOT until his death.

In 1999 Henry married Stacey Lewis. To this union one beautiful child, Amber K. Gray was born.

He moved from Chicago to St. Louis in 2004. He loved St. Louis and was extremely proud to be a St. Louis man! In 2009, Henry met and married April Davis. To this union, April brought two adorable children, Akyra Davis and Alec Davis. Henry loved his family, he spent a lot of time with his wife, children, mother and father, who all loved him dearly!

Henry was a jack-of-all-trades. He could do anything. He was an all-around person and will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit. He was always the life of the party.  He was the photographer, the DJ, the comedian, and everything else.

Henry was a world traveler. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, they saw the world.  Traveling to Italy, Mexico, China, Greece and many more.  Cruising was an every year thing.  They explored many islands and being a Master scuba diver, he enjoyed exploring the deep sea.

Henry was very active in his community. He was President of The Gate District Neighborhood Association. He was very politically inclined; he ran for Alderman.  He had a passion for Bourbon and Whiskey and created The Bourbonaires Group.

Henry departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. He fought a good fight.  Henry never complained, he was always happy and cheerful.  Many people didn’t know he was fighting for his life. Until God called him home.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, April; Daughters: Amber and Akra, Son: Alec, Parents:  Laverne and Henry and A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
