Mr. Edward Lewis Beck

EDWARD LEWIS BECK was born to the union of Edward Beck and Mary Louise Draper Beck. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, William Spencer Beck, Ethel Lee Beck Smith and Henry Lewis Beck; and his son, Jermaine Tyrone Beck. 

Edward attended Macon Colored School and graduated in 1964. 

Edward joined Macedonia M.B. Church at an early age. 

Edward moved to St. Louis, MO and during the early 1960's, he was employed at David &: Goliath as a Produce Manager. He was later hired by Saint Louis County Cab as the first African American cab driver in St. Louis, MO. He worked for the cab company for over 40 years. Edward continued to work even after retirement age for Home 2 Suites Hotel as a shuttle driver until his untimely death. 

He was the Employee of the Year for Hotel Equities where he is still highly respected by Chairman and CEO, Fred Cerrone. Ed was honored, recognized and nominated by his supervisor, Amanda Michaels. 

In 1966, Edward married Patricia Randall and to this union, three children were born. He was an avid horseman, a skillful chessman, enjoyed bowling and loved to travel. 

Edward peacefully departed this life on Friday, June 25, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. 

Edward leaves to cherish his memory his lifetime partner of 36 years, Ms. Susan Butler of St. Louis, MO. He also leaves his children, Tawana Beck Qames) Thompson, Lisa Beck (Reginald) Willis, Angie Beck all of St. Louis, MO, Jeramy (Kendra) Butler of Birmingham, AL, Jacobi Mason of Dallas, TX, and Barry (Brandy) Butler of Hampton, VA; siblings, Aldean Beck Clemons of Indianapolis, IN, Ina Beck McNeil Qose) Maldonado, Mary Beasley, both of Macon, MS, Bettye Helton of Chicago, IL, Ernest (Evelyn) Beck and Bernice Beck Randolph both of St. Louis, MO. He will be missed by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins-in-law, family, and friends.
