Mr. Dwight LaRoy Foster, Sr., was born to Harold and Barbara J. Tate on October 16, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was raised by his parents and his grandmother, Mattie Foster, who
all preceded him in death. He was the oldest of six children, three of whom preceded him in death: Harold K. Foster, Ronald Tate, and Sharon Foster.
He was educated in the St. Louis public school system, where he proudly represented his high school, Beaumont High. Starting his career journey, he served honorably and with great pride, both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army Reserve.
Prior to his union, Dwight Foster, Sr., welcomed his first beautiful child, Erika Wingo. On May 25, 1974, he married the love of his life, Ruth E. Gordon. To this union Dwight
LeRoy Foster, Jr., and Chelsea Janine Foster were born.
He professed his faith in God and was baptized at Mt. Airy M.B. Church, under the leadership of Reverend Ralph McDaniel. He later joined West End Mt. Carmel, under the leadership of former pastor, J.E. Turner, and Bishop George White, Jr. At the time of his passing, he was under the leadership of Pastor Miah White at “The Worship Center”, formerly known as West End Mt. Carmel.
Dwight was employed with Metro (formerly known as Bi-State), where he proudly served 27 years, retiring in May of 2013 as a transit driver. He was an active member of the Sho- Me Riders Bikers Club. His favorite hobbies were riding his motorcycle, grilling, skating, and socializing with family and friends. Dwight was known by a variety of nicknames, such as “Dillie”, “Uncle Dillie”, “Big Papa”, “Dill Pickle”, “1000-year-old teenager”, and “PaPa”. Dwight really loved and cherished his family.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Ruth E. Foster; one son, Dwight LeRoy Foster, Jr.; two daughters, Erika Robinson (Lewis) and Chelsea Flenoid
