Mr. Dickey Bates Obituary

DICKEY BATES, one of a set of identical twins, was born November 6, 1955 in St. Louis, MO to Arlene and Richard Bates. 

Dickey attended Northwest High School and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his tour of duty, he remained in the Navy Reserve, returned to St. Louis and was joined in marriage to Victoria Love. 

He began his professional career with Ford Motor Co. where he spent more than 20 years before retiring, rising to the rank of line supervisor. As Supervisor, he was beloved by both his peers and those whom he led. 

Dickey departed this life on Monday,January 25, 2021 after a valiant battle with sudden health issues. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlene and Richard Bates, and brother Alfred L Whitener, Senior. 

He leaves to mourn his passing two children, Ebony Bates and Nikki Bates of Kansas City; siblings, Barbara Whitener, Alfreda Arbuthnot (William), Howard Whitener II (Barbara), Rickey Bates (Valerie), Janet Williams, Arlene Taylor, Michael Bates; aunt, Peggy Gleghorn; and grandchildren, Nyasia Wright, Elauni Carter, and Keasiah Talley. These will mourn along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. 

Dickey will be fondly remembered for his lighthearted nature, his love of family, and the many deep friendships he cultivated. His reputation as the fun loving uncle among his nieces, nephews and his grandchildren will live on forever.
