Mr. DeVonte' Latorrance ("Skon") Strickland, Sr.

June 8, 1992 ~ August 27, 2020 (age 28)

Obituary

I, DEVONTE' LATORRANCE STRICKLAND, SR (SKON) would love to welcome you to my home-going celebration. I was born June 8, 1992 to LaTasha Leopold and Marquis Strickland. Out of the five children born to this union, I was the fourth born.

DeVonte' received his early education in the St. Louis Public School System and the post secondary school that he attended was Alternative South High School. He enjoyed playing football while growing up and played for the City Rec team. "Skon", as he was affectionately called, enjoyed listening to music, boxing and spending time with the ones he loved. Oh, let's not forget how he really liked fast cars. His smile would light up a room and he had a laugh like none other. His presence would bring about a sense of energy to all those around him.

"Skon" loved his mother and siblings with and unbreakable bond. His children, nieces and nephews meant the world to him. He was a loving father to his children and he stepped up to be a father figure in the lives of the children of his siblings.

DeVonte' had a goofy sense of humor, always telling jokes and dancing, leaving you with another great memory. He was fun to be around and his personality was one of a kind. He will be truly missed as we remember him with love. Even in his passing DeVonte' was caring and generous, just as he lived. He was an organ donor and several lives benefited from his selfless act of giving.

Preceding him in death is his brother, Marquis Strickland Jr., Great grandmothers, Delores Gordon and Freddie Strickland. And his cousins, Robert White, Jr. and Anton Minnis.
