Mr. Bruce Anthony Walker, Sr. was born on August 31, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri to Otis and Minnie Walker. Both parents and his sister, Linda Susan Hollingsworth, preceded him in death.
Bruce was educated in the St. Louis Public School System, and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1978. Bruce was always on the move, running track and participating in his high school's ROTC program. He was a man of many talents; he played the clarinet and the saxophone in the high school band. Bruce was known to host jam sessions in his parent's living room with his neighborhood friends. They actually formulated a band and called themselves the "Three B's,": Bruce, Boojay and Bobby.
Following his high school graduation, Bruce attended Rankin Tech. In 1982 he earned his certification as an Electrician and worked out of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local one from 1984 - 2008.
In 1997, following his mother's death, Bruce joined forces with his brother Otis Qunie), to honor their mother's (Minnie M. Hall-Walker) legacy in the art of grilling meat; and Smoki O's was born. Bruce was a good cook and the brothers had learned the art of grilling when aiding their mother with backyard barbeques. They were determined to showcase that flavor to the world.
Unfortunately, Bruce fell from a roof in 2017 while performing electrical work, which resulted in his admission to Hillside Manor, a skilled nursing facility.
On June 28, 2021, Bruce exited this world. He was loved by all who knew him and will be forever in the hearts, minds, and spirit of his family and friends.
As a family, we celebrate Bruce's life and remember the father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, who was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Bruce's legacy shall live on through his children and grandchildren. May he rest in eternal peace.
