MILDRED B. McGILL (WHITE) was born October 6, 1932 in Adair County, Kentucky. She was the youngest child of 22 children, 14 of which lived, born to the union of Nelson White and Nelson Jr., Frank Ed, Richard, Rena ,Josephine, Betty, Nellie, Goldie, Fannie Mae, Elsie, and Marie all preceded her in death.
Mildred was raised in Columbia, KY and later moved to Louisville, KY after completing nursing school at Red Cross. She served in Waverly Hill Tuberculosis Center and continued her nursing career as a surgical and private duty nurse for 61 years.
She met Joseph McGill while he was a patient on the floor she was working. And although she initially thought he was arrogant in the request for something to read, the two married June 30, 1958 and celebrated 63 years of holy matrimony!
Mildred and her husband both accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior under the leadership of her brother and nephew Walter and James Crowd us at Bethel Star in Louisville, KY. They later moved to St. Louis, MO in search of a better job market and soon connected with Lively Stone Church of God in 1982. Mildred and Deacon McGill continued to serve the Lord with gladness working in the ministry.
Mildred was a faithful wife, prayer-warring Mother, loving and thoughtful friend, dedicated and committed worker, and most of all, a Sassy, Jazzy, Classy, God-fearing woman. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, junking, and fellowshipping with her family. She always encouraged us to have "a piece of paper in your hand" and to know Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life: her faithful and devoted husband, Deacon Joseph McGill, Sr.; four children, Joseph McGill, Jr., Kevin (Cynthia) McGill, Traci McGill, and Devin McGill; six grandchildren, Daniel (Tomeisha) McGill, Tiara Jerondo) Thompson, Kyle McGill, Teresa McGill, Tia McGill, and Carlena McGill; two great grandchildren, Tayden McGill and Trevor Thompson, and a host of (great) nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend.
