EVELYN EASLEY was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 25, 1950, to the union of Benjamin and Susie (Macon) Green. She was one of ten children born to this union. Evelyn attended St. Louis Public Schools and continued her education at Florissant Valley Community College. Evelyn was employed with the City of St. Louis as an administrative assistant, until her retirement in 2008.
Evelyn loved the Lord and confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life, William Easley, in 1969. They dated for one year and married on May 17, 1970. To this union, two children were born, William Leon and Kenyon Neal.
They visited the Church of Christ Divine, under the late Bishop Arthur C. Coleman, where they heard the word of the Lord preached in its fullness. They were both baptized on March 23, 1971, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. She tarried until September of the same year, until she received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, as the spirit of God gives utterance. She served at the Church of Christ Divine on the Pastor’s Aide, and she was a member of the Pentecostal Chorus. She served as a faithful member, until the passing of Bishop Coleman in 1999. She was drawn to the teaching of Pastor David Berry of World Outreach Christian Center Church, where she was faithful until her death. She served in many facets at WOCCC, including church secretary, treasurer, Pastor’s Aide president, and faithful choir member, until her health failed. Evelyn loved to host dinners at her home, and she loved to cook and bake. She would invite different family members and friends to her home on these occasions.
Evelyn made her heavenly transition from earthly labor to heavenly reward on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pearl Jamison, Virginia Norah, and Bernice Snell; and one brother, Ben Greene, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband, William Neal; two sons, William Leon and Kenyon Neal; five sisters, Ora Lee Hill, Dorothy Toregrossa (Gus), Susie Carrawell, Jacqueline Green, and Joanne Wright; three grandchildren, Brittany, Kendra, and William Jr. (L.J.); four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; her World Outreach church family; and a host of saints and friends whose lives she has touched.
