Mary Brandon Obituary

MARY LOUISE BRANDON was born on September 18, 194 2. She was the firstborn of six children to Bennie and Lula Brandon in Gibson, Mississippi. After living the country life ( down-south) for her first eight years, the family moved to the big city of St. Louis, MO.

Mary received Christ at an early age and was baptized as well to further her spiritual growth. Her first church home was Greater Mt Carmel Baptist Church until she later started attending Victory Outreach Ministries.

Mary got her education in the St. Louis Public Schools, where she attended Waring Elementary and Hadley Tech. High School.
Mary had three children, Delnita Johnson-Miller, Kim Thompson, and Kenneth Brandon.

Mary had many jobs but the job she LOVED the most was working in the mental health care system. She was a supervisor over several group homes for several years. She would coordinate weekly and monthly activities for her clients but her specialty was taking them to be a part of the Special Olympics. After serving others throughout her years, she finally retired from Bellefontaine Habilitation Center after twenty-two years of labor.

Mary was a person that spoke her mind WHENEVER AND WHEREVER. Her kindness and commitment to helping others always was the forefront of her life. If you or anyone needed somewhere to stay (for a short period-oftime), her door was always open and her couch (including pillow and blankets) were always ready. Although she didn't have much, she always found a way to help you get on your feet. She loved cooking ( morning, noon or night,) attending her family reunions and visiting FLORIDA. She was always looking forward to going on the next trip with her sister Helen and planning what restaurants they were going to eat at. She made sure to have her "EATING MONEY" if nothing else.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Bennie Brandon; grandparents, Ed and Thula Ewing and Mandy and Walter Brandon; sisters; Lois Ann Calhoun, Annie Evyon Beasley; many aunts, an uncle, cousins, and brothers-in-law.

She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Lula Wortham; three children, Delnita Johnson-Miller, Kim Thompson, Kenneth Brandon; sister, Helen House; brothers, Bennie Brandon, Jr., Michael Brandon, Grover Brandon; grandchildren, Tyra Brown, LeVert Johnson, III, Raamah Thompson, Jr., Tiara Dennison, Kennita Brandon, Brianna Brandon; great-grandchildren, Joudian, Cameron, Cobie, Sundai, Lea Carter, Kayla, Kedan, Cameron, Ella, Raa III, Raina; son-in-law, Le Vert Johnson, Jr., Raamah Thompson, Curtis Miller Sr.; and a host of other relatives.
