Marvia Jones Obituary

Marvia Annette Crowder was born the eldest to the union of Edward Ross and Aldonia Brown on March 17, 1960 in Martinsville, Virginia both parents preceded her in death.

Marvia attended Bassett Elementary and Bassett High School. She later attended National Business College and received her Associate Degree of Secretarial Science.

Marvia was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Saint Paul Holiness Church under the leadership of Reverend James Davis.  Marvia was an intricate part of the ministries.  She impacted the lives of many people through her singing.

Marvia Annette Crowder met Walter Donell Jones in 1975 at church while she was playing the organ at Saint Paul Holiness Church where she attended.  What started as a change of phone numbers ended up into a wonderful relationship,  and later was united in holy matrimony on November 19, 1976 at Mount Sinai Apostle Church in Martinsville, Virginia under the late Bishop J.C. Richardson Sr. God blessed this union in 1985 with one daughter Christina Monique Jones.

They later moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1985. While in Cleveland Marvia worked as a house wife and later accepted a position at a local bank. During her free time she enjoyed knitting and singing. They all attended the Cleveland Church of Christ. The family moved to St. Louis, MO and joined the great, historical Lively Stone Church of God in 1987 pastored by Bishop Alphonso Scott. Marvia was presently a member of The City of Life Christian Church under the leadership of Elder Joe L. Middleton (Doris). Marvia had an anointed voice blessing many with her gifts.

Marvia became ill in 2014 but she never complained. She kept trusting in God and believing that everything was going to work out. She knew that God makes no mistakes.  Marvia departed this life on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Barnes/Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Marvia leaves to celebrate her passing and cherish her memory her loving Husband Walter Donell Jones, one daughter Christina Monique Jones, two sisters Kendra Brown and Belinda Brown, one brother David Brown, one sister in law Patricia Williams, two brother in laws Jesse Jones Jr. (Barbara) and Kenneth Jones (Coretta) a special goddaughter Crystal Walker Dixon and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Servant of God, well done, thy glorious warfare is past, the battle is fought, the victory is won and thou art crowned at last…
