Joe Butler, Jr. Obituary

Joe Butler Jr., fondly known as "Juma, Skeet, and Pawlee" was born on December 23, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri. Joe was the second of nine children born to Joe Sr. and Jaunita Butler.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Martha Jean Butler-Hagens, and two brothers, Ronald Glenn Butler and David Butler.

Joe received his education in the Saint Louis Public Schools where he met the love of his life and married his high school sweetheart, Janet Dixon Butler on February 7, 1978. To this union, two sons were born, Darvin and Lil Joe. As a family, they enjoyed talking, laughing, and spending time together. Being a dependable husband and father was of the utmost importance to Joe as he devoted his life to protecting and providing for his family.

Joe was a sports enthusiast, who loved relaxing and religiously watching all sports in his spare time, especially hockey with his beloved dog Shep.

Joe was prideful and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Shalom Church (City of Peace) in 1995 under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Freddy J. Clark, where he served as an usher.

Joe was a man of dedication who worked all his life. He worked for Hussmann Corporation and retired after 35 years of service. Joe was a strong, well respected and overall great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was greatly loved, appreciated, and will be missed by all.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife - Janet "Susie" Butler; two sons, Darvin Butler and Joe (Karen) Butler; three sisters, Anita Marie (Ernest) Cowens, Annette (Bobby) Butler-Jones, and Rita Renece (Anthony) Jones; two brothers, Fred (Louise) Butler and Allen (Jackie) Butler; one sister-in-law, Charlotte "Renee" (Coy) Talley; one brother-in-law Ralph Allen (Colleen) Dixon, Sr; grandchildren, Darvyn, Dasia, K.C., Briana, Kayla, Vanessa, Andrew, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Rakeem "Racko", Londyn, Paris, Malaysia, and Kacey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
