Eva Johnson Obituary

EVA JOHNSON was born January 29, 1927 to George and Lula Kinnel of Shelby, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and two daughters.

Eva confessed her hope to Christ at an early age at Summerville M.B. Church in Winona, MS. Later, she joined Southern Mission M.B. Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Johnson. She worked at the St. Louis Club for many years as a housekeeper before retiring in the late 70's due to her declining health.

"Mill" was the matriarch of the family and the glue that kept us together. She was the life of the party and a joy to be around to all who had the pleasure of being in her company. Growing up in Pagedale, our home was the weekend spot for all family gatherings and "Mill" was the Pagedale Mother who fed everyone. We often said put a sign on the door saying "Salvation Army" because she turned no one away.

She leaves to cherish precious memories three sons, Willie Johnson Jr., (Mildred), Curtis Johnson (Connie), Larry Johnson all of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Ella Jean Henderson (David), Deborah Crenshaw, and Barbara Lante (Samuel); one sister, Lula Mae Lee of St. Louis, MO; three brothers, George Kinnel of West Palm Beach, FL, Omega Kinnel of St. Louis, MO and LC Kinnel of Baltimore, MD; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She had a very special bond with her grandson, Timothy Johnson, and her great grandson, Zearion.
