Dorothy Beck Obituary

SISTER DOROTHY JEAN (DOT) BALLARD-BECK was born on January 12, 1950 to the union of the late Will and Mary Ballard, in Macon, Mississippi.

Dorothy was educated at B.F. Liddell High School in Macon, MS. She graduated in 1968 and was voted as the most beautiful girl in her 1968 class. She had great love for her classmates and attended most of their class events. The Macon Night Ball was especially her most favorite. Dorothy acknowledged her faith in Christ at an early age in Macon, MS.  After  moving  to St. Louis,  MO, she joined  Greater  Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church  under  the  leadership   of   Rev.  Robert   Franklin,  Jr.  She attended until her health failed.

In 1968, Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart, Henry Lewis Beck of Macon, MS and to their union, five children were born. Dorothy was a good mother and grandmother and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always did for her family no matter what. She always taught them life-lessons and guided them in choosing what was right over wrong. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. Dorothy had a great love for her childhood friends, the late Lola Spann-Paulette, Pearl Stewart and Viola Mitchell-Kincaid . They were like sisters and always had each other's back.

Dorothy retired from the Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza, St. Louis, MO after 30 years, where she was a Department Supervisor. She loved working with her co-workers and they loved her too. One of her entertainment outlets was going to fashion shows. She enjoyed them and each event gave her a flare for fashions.
