Otis L. Brooks, Sr., was born January 15, 1944, in Crawfordsville, Arkansas to the late Tillman and Dora Brooks. Deacon Otis L. Brooks, Sr., departed this life at 12:00 AM on November 14, 2021, at BJC West in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 77.
Deacon Brooks accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in water in the precious Name of Jesus and received the gi of the Holy Ghost. He served as Deacon and Head Deacon under the late Suffragan Bishop Tommie Harsley, Jr. for over 30 years and as a church trustee at Greater Bible Way Community Church. He also served faithfully as the groundskeeper of the church and in other capacities under the current Pastor Gary Hill and was very active in church until his health began to fail.
Otis Brooks, Sr., married Ruby L. Taylor on March 4, 1989, and they were happily married until his untimely death. The Lord blessed their union with 9 beautiful children.
Otis was preceded in death by: both parents, Tillman and Dora Brooks; three brothers, Tillman Brooks, Jr., James Brooks, and Harrison Brooks; four sisters, Flora Mae Smith, Debra Razor, Lois Jones, and Tina Brooks; and one son, Brian Taylor.
In addition to his wife Ruby of 32 years, Deacon Brooks also leaves not to mourn his passing, but celebrate his life: three sons, David Dunlap, Michael Brooks, and Otis Lee Brooks, Jr; five daughters, Eula Logan, Jacqueline Jackson (Derak), Gwendolyn Brooks, Michella Brooks, and Elizabeth Brooks; ten brothers, James Thomas, Willie Brooks, Mac Arthur Brooks, Louis Brooks, Sr., Henry Razor, Jerry Razor, Michael Brooks, Robert Brooks, Calvin Brooks, and Larry Allen; five sisters, Gloria Harding, Susan Davis, Joyce Wallace, Kattie Brooks, and Karen Brooks; 34 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and friends. He also leaves two special sisters-in-law, Essie Brooks and Mozella Brooks.
