James Rogers IV Obituary

JAMES LEE ROGERS IV was born February 11, 1996 in Saint Louis, Missouri to the union of Mattie Monique Rogers (Woodard) and James Lee Rogers III. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Prentice Woodard Jr. (1923-2007); and grandmother, Sophie Rogers (1948-2018). He was the second oldest of three children, Arrione Taylor (Dezi) being the oldest and Mattie Desarailla Rogers being the youngest.

James attended Hazelwood public schools and graduated from Hazelwood East in 2015.

He was a loving father  to a  handsome  son, Mason Haynes. James' smile was as bright as the moon above when he saw his son smile. He was very compassionate with their relationship and bond. James loved the different  adventures  he  took  his son on-whether if it was going to the park or the city museum, it was time well spent. James took care of his son with the help of his loving mother, Mattie. He often stated how he was blessed to have a son that was a miniature him. James was a protector to his mother  and  siblings. He also adored his relationships with his siblings.

James, known to his family as JayRR, loved music and was passionate about rapping. Growing up, James played a few sports including basketball, baseball and football, which later he grew out of. He always loved to talk to his little cousin, Lanell Carr Jr., about football and how proud he was of him and for him to stay focused. He also loved to travel.

He was loved by all his family and friends and could win  them over with his charming smile. James had a giving heart and would look out for not only his family but his friends if they needed him. James always made a way out of no way.

He began working at Amazon in 2018 as a package handler.

James Lee Rogers IV transitioned home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

He leaves to cherish his memories to a loving mother, Mattie Monique Rogers; father, James Lee Rogers III; his son, Mason Haynes; sisters, Arrione Taylor (Dezi), Lil Mattie Rogers; grandmother, Bobbie Jean Woodard; his favorite aunts, Bessie Mabry (Woodard), Valarie Williams, Tonya Harris; his uncles, Terry Gray, Christopher Womack Ramsey, Willie Ramsey, Michael Gray; and a host of cousins. James formed a brotherhood with his childhood friends, Julius Whintfield and Anthony Willis.
