James Howard Brooks was born August 5, 1948, in Macon, Mississippi. James was the third of four children born to the union of James Edward Brooks and Melinda Ramsey Brooks, who both preceded him in death.
At the age of four, his family relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri. James graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in 1969 and then went to McDonnell Douglas, where he trained and worked as a machinist. He then worked for George Bernard Printing and later joined Barnes Hospital as a Stationary Engineer. In 1975, he began working for United Parcel Service, where he retired after 31 years of service
James was united in marriage to Monica Elaine Moore on March 9, 1985.
James was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and road trips. He indulged in annual deep-sea fishing trips with several friends. He also had an eye for fancy cars and nice jewelry. More than anything, James loved spending time with family and friends. One of the joys of his life was sharing himself with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband and a wonderful brother. His radiant smile and easy-going spirit were a joy to all.
James departed this earthly life on November 1, 2019. James leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 34 years, Mrs. Monica E. Brooks; two sons, Kevin (Rochelle) and Justin; one daughter, Rachel (Jill); two sisters, Mary Louise Sanders and Jane Aldine Brown; one brother, Charles Walter Brooks; brother-in-law, Thornton Wiggins (Patricia); six grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
