Ida Mae McMillian was born July 6, 1938 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to J.C. McMillian and Elsie Young. Ida was preceded in death by J.C. McMillian (father), Elsie Young (mother), Clara D Horn (sister), Loretta Young (sister) and Betty Young (sister).
Ida was a loving caring person who loved her family, especially her children and her grandchildren. Her smile was infectious and her laugh was unforgettable. She made strangers into friends and friends into family. No one would ever go hungry when you came to visit her because, if you were hungry your were getting fed and if you weren’t hungry you were getting fed anyway. She loved taking care of the ones she loved. She had a heart of gold but she was a “firecracker” and would speak her mind if she didn’t agree with something. Beauty, elegance and strength all rolled into one classy lady.
Ida, affectionately known as “Babydoll”, “Nana” and “Grandma” gained her wings to heaven on August 21, 2019. Her precious memories and love will be remembered by her brothers; Rev. James Young (Turrell, Arkansas), Sheppard Young (Turrell, Arkansas), her sisters; Minnie Johnson (Rhode Island), Alice McClure (Proctor, Arkansas), Dorothy Garrett ( Turrell, Arkansas), Abbie Joe Gant (Memphis, Tennessee), Mary Turner (Saint Louis), her sons; Lloyd A White ( Atlanta, Georgia), Shawn L White (Saint Louis), grandchildren; RaShawn White (Charleston, South Carolina), Myles White (Charleston, South Carolina), Sheldon Brookins (Los Angeles, California), granddaughters; Alexis A White (St. Louis, Missouri), Brittany A Turner (Atlanta, Georgia), Deja A White (Atlanta, Georgia), great grandchildren; Ulysses White (Charleston, South Carolina) and DeVon Carter Jr., (St. Louis, Missouri) and a host of family members and friends. We love you and you will be missed.
