Her Life
Valerie Ann (McDonald) Gregory was born April 21, 1948, to the union of John and Sallie McDonald who preceded her in death along with her brothers John McDonald II, Charles McDonald, and Major McDonald. She was the seventh of nine children.
Valerie was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. She graduated from Charles Sumner High School. She retired from Ford Motor Company in 2005.
In 1970, Valerie wed Ralph Gregory, who preceded her in death. To this union was born her only loving son, Dwan Gregory.
Valerie was a faithful servant of Christ Community Temple C.O.G.I.C. She confessed a hope in Christ Jesus at an early age. She was a member of the Sunshine Band and Jr. Ushers. On May 22, 1983, she re-dedicated her life through baptism, alongside her son, Dwan. She was a member of the choir, Pastor’s Aide Committee, and the Mother’s Board.
Valerie enjoyed shopping and traveling with friends. She loved her family and was a doting grandmother to her one and only granddaughter, Cecilia and her great-grandson, Collin. She was so proud she recently taught Collin how to write his name.
Valerie leaves to cherish her memory her son, Dwan (Sarah) Gregory; one granddaughter, Cecilia Johnson; and one great grandson, Collin Bibby; Sisters, Malvina McPherson, Darlene Compton, Barbara McDonald, and Sharon McDonald; one Brother, Timothy McDonald; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, and her parrot, Brandy.
